To buy property abroad is a very vague term. If you were based in London, buying a property in Lille, France or buying in the Dominican Republic would both be categorized as buying abroad. The difference in distance is huge and the process of buying could be very different in the two locations. From the time differences creating problems in getting your agent on the phone to a possible language barrier the process of buying abroad can be hard work and the location does have a massive part to play.
The location of a property poses many questions to the potential buyer. Once you have settled on a country there are further location questions to answer. Would you want to locate on a coast or more inland? If inland, would you rather the country side or a town? Would you want to be quite secluded? Or in the middle of the hustle and bustle? Wherever you do decide to find a property you also need to ask yourself whether you want an outside space? If so how much? The location means so much and there are so many factors to it. I think it is worth spending a lot of time considering the questions about location. Getting the answers wrong in relation to the location issue could leave you to ‘repent at your leisure’ as the saying goes. If the purchase of the property is geared toward being a buy to let venture the questions about location really need to be thought out in terms of the financial elements first.
